Heading to the airport in just a bit. Soon (relatively, while I’m messing with airports it’s gonna feel long and tedious) I will be in the Dominican Republic, lounging on the beach and sipping fruity beverages with little umbrellas in them.
I couldn't find anyone who has tried one of the Groupon all-inclusive vacations so I figured I would be the guinea pig. Even if it is bad, it will be an adventure and keep me from obsessing about my plan to start looking for a house next month. I should, perhaps, be saving my pennies instead but $820 for an 8-day vacation was too good to pass up.
I’ll be back on the 29th with a tan. Take care of yourselves until I return.

Stood up and I don't care
Not one but two of my co-workers stood me up for dinner tonight (one actually did text as I was on my way) but I don’t even care because this mac n cheese with bacon is sooooo good!
Glad I tried this place! Erik the Red's
I also enjoyed an elk brat but that didn't last long enough for me to snap a photo.
I'll definitely be back to try the salmon too. Mmmm...

Women’s problems
There is nothing that makes me want to stab someone in the eye more during “that time of the month” than bathrooms that only let you have ¼ sheet of toilet paper at a time because the roll is too big for the dispenser.

Should I be concerned
A man I haven’t seen or talked to since Thanksgiving over a year ago (although he did send me a couple pro-Cheeto emails that I ignored) just emailed me just to ask “Mikki: what type of skin do you have?” That was it. The entirety of his email.
???
I’m a little concerned that he may have watched Silence of the Lambs recently. LOL

Leaving soon for DC
Heading to D.C.on a birthday trip with my sister.
I am touched and grateful for her generosity but also, just the tiniest bit concerned that we are gonna wear on each other’s nerves.
I’m used to traveling alone. She’s used to traveling with someone who does whatever she wants. I’m fine with us splitting up for a while to do our own thing but she doesn’t feel comfortable doing stuff on her own. It’s my birthday but she’s paying so that alone might increase any diva attitudes on either side.
We are both excited to see the new National Museum of African American History & Culture that should bring us together. Reservations at Morton's won't hurt either. We are in much better moods when we are stuffed full of steak and chocolate lava cake.
I do love my sister and hope this is a great opportunity for us to grow closer but in case it isn’t, keep an eye out for us on the news. I’m the one with the purple & black hair. :-)

I’m out of here.
Eventually I’ll be back. I’ll be different but I’ll be more me. Every trip is fantastic, even when they are difficult. This one will be no different even though they are all unique. The more I go and travel, the more I see and do, the more I learn and understand who I really am. That’s all I’m really looking for anyway.
Two all around.

Dragon!
I have people who love me enough that even when they are on their romantic get-away they still take time to hunt down a fantastic dragon for my collection. I am blessed!

Driving confessions
Okay, so I am an excellent driver.
Really, ask any of the people I zoom past on any given day; depending on the weather I might be on a Harley, 70′s muscle car or 4x4 pick-up but I never hit any of the idiots who might be in my way. See? Fantastic!
However, it is entirely possible that I once managed to get my car stuck up in a tree. I was 16 and it was two weeks before prom.
I was zipping down a dirt road that runs along the Mississippi with my best friend in the car when I remembered that the cute boy I had a crush on gave me a new dragon sword. I reached down under my seat to yank it out and impress her with my skill, not to mention the nifty sword, just as I hit a curve in the road. When I hit the brakes too hard, my poor car slid right off the road and into, literally the branches of, a tree. Damn good thing too because otherwise we would have had quite a drop off the cliff and right into the river!!!!
Fortunately, some guys with a big pick-up truck had been fishing down the road and Lori & I were quite cute waaaaayyyyy back in the day. They helped me yank my car out of the tree and back on to the road where it belonged.
My prom date (and, much later, husband (now ex)) was able to help me repair the damage to the car and all was well in Mikki-land.
Dad found out (that the car was damaged, not *how*) but he didn’t rat me out to mom who would have beat my ass.
I learned my lesson and now refrain from playing with weapons while driving (although I still would like a rocket-launcher mounted on all my vehicles for those slow drivers who block the left lane of traffic!).
